"Fostering, Expanding, and Perpetuating the Practice of Archery"
Let your child find their inner archer just like their latest
Hollywood Hero. We all know Merida from Disney’s Brave,
Katniss from The Hunger Games, and the Legendary Robin
Hood all had to start somewhere and if Tomahawk Archers
was around for them I am sure they would have started with
us. We weren’t, so let us offer the next best thing. Teaching
your child how to shoot. We stress safety, fun, and efficiency
with the hopes of fostering an interest in what could become a
life long hobby.
Archery is by far one of the safest sports someone can participate in. It also happens to be one of the few sports that can cross generation gaps and include everyone in the family. It’s rare to see three generations participating in one hobby, but not in archery.
Come on and and let your child fling some arrows and watch them fall in love with the bow and
arrow. We can even teach you to shoot so it can soon become a family pastime. We offer
rental equipment at no cost to you. We realize purchasing equipment can be overwhelming and
if not done properly can become expensive if you constantly are trying to buy new to replace
the equipment that didn’t fit in the first place. Use our bows, practice with our arrows until you
find what fits you. Then you can truly personalize this great sport to fit exactly what you want.
It doesn’t matter if its hunting, field archery, or competitive tournaments you are interested in.
It all starts with picking up that first bow and letting that first arrow fly!
The youth programs are led by people who truly care about the sport of archery and
making sure it continues to grow. There will be USA Archery certified instructors each
night. Most are first aid trained and a few are active in scouting.
This year we will run a preregistration. Members will get first openings, follwed by returning
shooters, and then we will welcome all new shooters. We will do our best not to turn anyone
away and if that means opening up a second youth league we will do that. We will try to
push some of the advanced kids to shoot on Wednesdays in our JOAD program to free up
room, if not we can not create enough spots for the new kids we will plan accordingly.
Please be patient on the first couple of nights as we try to accomodate everyones needs.
If your archer is serious about the sport and wants to continuely improve while being awarded and noticed by USA Archery, then our Wednesday Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) is perfect. This will be our first year doing this and we will encourage you to join USA Archery and participate through them and with them in tournaments near and far. More Information can be found here at USA Archery.org
A big thanks to Michigan Bow Hunters, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Cabelas, the National Archery in the Schools Program, Monroe County Pheasants Forever and Mathews for creating the Genesis bow.
